Mission and Vision

Our Mission

Buffalo ReUse provides an economic and community development program that promotes building deconstruction and responsible reuse in Buffalo, NY. Deconstruction facilitates the eco-friendly practice of reusing building materials and diverting waste from our landfill. Through our retail store, ReSource, Buffalo ReUse provides quality and low cost building materials for purchase. Income from sales supports deconstruction and education activities. The ReSource will also be a center for community engagement through creative programming and environmental education. The reuse of materials ultimately both preserves the architectural heritage of buildings that would otherwise be lost, and enhances the structural and aesthetic quality of existing homes. Buffalo ReUse provides quality job and educational opportunities; cross training in the trades, and leadership development.

Our Vision

Buffalo ReUse will:

  • be a leader in the international deconstruction and re-use community, influencing public policies encouraging reuse, increasing landfill diversion and environmental protection
  • forge strong alliances and collaborations to expand access to educational and training opportunities for youth 18 – 24 years old
  • work with community associations and block clubs to stabilize, revitalize, and exponentially enrich the quality of life in neighborhoods
  • support the incubation of new businesses related to deconstruction and reuse
